The two 68-pin SCSI wide Kingston DE-100i-RSW/B receiving frames shown in the photos are NOT included in this listing at this price. If the buyer wants them, they are absolute MINT condition, each plus extra shipping for two, you need to send me a message before buying and I will raise the price by to include them.
This is an absolutely killer 50-pin Kingston Storcase SCSI rack, 2U and dual 5.25" drive bays, from a composer music room here in Los Angeles. It is the latest, greatest style of SCSI rack, made in 2003 right before Kingston stopped making them (they wanted to make SD cards and DRAM for PCs). This is probably the newest SCSI rack you will ever see.
This is the newest style of Kingston with the fully recessed power switch.
BTW, I also have THREE (two listed in another eBay listing and one more just the same that I found in a rack and can list when needed) of the 3U 4-bay newest style of Kingston with the fully recessed power switch (model DS351-4-160/B, the "/B" always means black with Kingston), they match this one, set up for SCSI Ultra320 (it was running four Seagate ST373307LW 73gb 68-pin SCSI Ultra 320 10,000 RPM SE/LVD drives when they came in, but I can change that), also black and MINT MINT MINT. Those are also the latest, greatest style, but I also have two of the 90s style of the same 3U type, which you could probably spot if you looked at my incredible Kingston warehouse photos at the end of the photo gallery on many of my Kingston carriers/frames listings.
As this listing starts, I have three of these latest style 2U Kingston racks, all identical, all black, perfect condition, all with the same 68-pin SCSI wide Kingston DE-100i-RSW/B carriers in them which are NOT included in this listing at this price. Available if you want them at the price above. So the available quantity is 3 as I start this listing, even though the photos only show the one and only one I brought home from the warehouse.
This was used with two Kingston Data Express pullout hard drives. This is the normal way that two 3.5" hard drives are mounted in it. You can also use 3.5" to 5.25" adapters to mount a 3.5" hard drive, or the open face front type (I have both, /each, you need to tell me to add it before buying) to use an open face type of drive, such as a 50-pin SCSI ZIP drive or 50-pin SCSI Jaz drive, to use with an Akai MPC60, etc.. You can also mount a SCSI CD-ROM, etc..
This rack is set up with a single channel SCSI cable setup, which is 68-pin MD68F on each of the two rear connections, on a single internal cable, with two MD68M connectors inside to connect to the drives, so two drives will connect to one computer here, and you'll put a 68-pin terminator on the other unused port (assuming you don't terminate the drives inside). And there are two Kingston factory blanks on the other two connector holes.
Another way they set these up is with two SCSI channels, so each side has two single channel SCSI cable setups, a 68-pin MD68F on each of the two rear connections on one side, a single internal cable with one MD68M connector inside to connect to the drive, then the same setup on the other side also. This was much less common.
The two Kingston factory blanks on the unused connector holes are actually a plastic cap in the metal 50-pin Centronics to 68-pin MD68F adapter plate. That cap can be removed to add a 68-pin MD68F connector, or the plate can be removed to put in full size 50-pin Centronics connectors to use narrow SCSI with a SCSI sampler, etc..
If you want that, please write and tell me which way you need it and I can fabricate it from new stock. Probably or less.
I also have the SCSI Ultra320 connectors used for these, as these were the latest, greatest type for those fastest drives, but this rack (all 3) were set up for the standard 68-pin SCSI. The SCSI Ultra320 connectors are the VERY small thin ones sometimes seen on later model Pro Tools cards and rack units (and Avid Media Composer video editing systems), and use specialized cabling for it. If you want that, tell me and I'll let you know the price.
This is the best equipped SCSI rack ever. It has two two SCSI ID switches and wiring harnesses (often not used, because Kingston Data Express pullout hard drives don't need to use that and usually don't, the SCSI ID number is set by turning a switch inside the side of the frame, and that number is displayed on the front of the frame when powered up, though it usually is VERY inconvenient to access that and change to another SCSI ID number) in the front panel, a cooling system with two squirrel cage fans (tell me any other SCSI enclosure that had those, I DESIGN with those and they are exotic), and a high and low speed switch for the fans. It also has a grounding lug at the back, which many pro studios require. The face plate has two handles on it, all of it black powder coated. This is completely unscratched, mint condition, as are the frames inside if you want to buy those, too.
Shipping
These are compact, but all steel and heavy. It's a steel case outside and more metal on the inside. It will be safely packed for shipment. I will pack it into a cardboard carton with solid foam, and, if possible, double-box it into a second outer carton.
