    Description

Up for sale is this beautiful antique Japanese lacquered wood gunbai uchiwa fan with carved and applied wooden handle and finely painted surface with a large flaming headed god, possible Ameterasu on the right full length side. The left side has some scholar art objects on top and another god figure possibly holding a sword.
Handle has a portion that is painted with gilt gold paint. The very bottom retains its metal loop base.
Fantastic old gunbai uchiwa which I believe to be late Meiji or early Taisho period, 19th C or early 20th C.
Highly decorative work of Shinto art and a collectible and rare Japanese antique!
In excellent overall condition with no cracks or chips. Can be hung on a wall as decoration as it has a metal ring loop on the back.
I have FOUR fantastic gunbai uchiwa fans up for sale, all from the same estate collection of Asian artifacts and antiques.
This one measures 11” inches long with the handle and 5.5” inches wide (27.9 cm, 14 cm). The fan portion itself measures about 7.2” inches long (18.3 cm).
Would make a fantastic display piece, fine addition to a collection, or a great gift!
