    Description

An original Santo Domingo , now known as Kewa Pueblo Native American pottery basket measuring 3.40" tall x 3.5" in diameter. The attribution on the base reads "Beatrice Aguilar Sto Domingo Res .00". This attribution is not a signature and was not written by the artist but probably someone marketing this on a roadside stand. The individual I purchased this from was selling her parents historic period Native American pottery collection which they had purchased during a trip to the American Southwest many years earlier. The slip shows some age flaking on the buff and black paint. There are no cracks or chips on this piece and it shows excellent age patina with no damage. The Aguilars were famed for their pottery art at Santo Domingo Pueblo. This is not dated but I believe it is circa 1920.
