The radio is battery operated.  It takes 6 "D" cell for the radio and 2 "AA" cell for the computer back up
The battery chamber is clean (see picture)
There is no plastic strap with this radio.  Don't believe it ever had one per the picture on the box.
The sound is loud and clear coming through the different stations.
The face lights up for easy view of the station.
The antenna pulls all of the way out and there is an outlet for an additional antenna if desired.
You can also plug in earphones and DC in 9V
It's a pretty cool radio.
