    Description

Vintage File Ads large book of Kansas City Star and Times newspaper advertising for Jan. 1, 1959, thru April, 30, 1959. It mainly contains ads for Emery Bird Thayer (EBT). It has several ads for Wards, Gateway, TWA, Jones, Woolworths, The Palace, Russell Stover, Parkview, Kresge’s, Macy’s, Peck’s, and several other (then) local businesses.
If you want to see the hair, clothing, furniture, appliances, fashions, and prices from 1959, you’ll find this collection of ads a gold mine. It’s a little piece of KC ‘s newspaper advertising and journalistic history.
These were the days of Nelly Don dresses, shirtwaists, nylon stockings, spike heels, full slips, girdles, drip dry clothes, sunburst wall clocks, fur coats, pearls, pedal pushers, robes and dusters, rotary dial telephones, phone numbers like HA .1-3500, hats, gloves, the ‘59 Rambler, percolators, braided rugs, clock radios, and TV trays.
There are even a few wedding/engagement pictures, birth/death announcements, and news articles on some of the ad pages.
